Techno Science Supersite

Hey students! Here is your definitive source for K-12 Science, Math, and Technology fun in and around the Portland metro area.

Dinosaur Invasion

Is it just me, or have we been invaded by dinosaurs? It seems wherever you turn in Portland there is a dinosaur. The Techno Science Super-center have taken it upon ourselves to track the migration patterns of the dinosaurs. If you love dinosaurs like we do, you may wish to visit one of these centers before they head off to some other destination:

  • Ancient Trees: Walking in the Footsteps of Dinosaurs (May 17 - August 2nd) - The World Forestry Center has a unique look into the past as they explore the ancient plant groups and the herbivores that ate them
  • Dinosaurs: China's Ancient Giants (Feb 2 - Sept. 1) - OMSI is sponsoring the largest collection of authentic Chinese fossils ever to go on tour (including a 65-foot long, 21 foot high Mamenchisaurus).
  • The Roar of Dinosaurevolution (May 23 - Sept. 1) - Portland Children's Museum will be your guide as you "travel" to Patagonia, where you wind your way through a maze as you become a dinosaur and leave your tracks behind, create your own dinosaur, climb the Soil Stratification Climbing Wall, and become a Junior Paleontologist.
  • Dinosaurs (May 24 - Sept. 2) - Just when you thought it was safe to go to the Oregon Zoo, the dinosaurs set up camp and are defending their nests. According to the zoo, you can dodge the spitting Dilophosaurus, dig for fossils, find dinosaur egg nests, and track a T. Rex.

da Vinci Days: Flights of Fancy

This year's Festival takes flight with a weekend full of wonder and fun. Among the 2008 highlights are zany human-powered kinetic sculpture racers in the Cryatal Anniversary of the Kinetic Challenge, a helicopter exhibit, battery-powered mini-sculptures competing in the Leonardo 500, high flying kite art, electric car races, foot-stomping music, and festive dance performances.Truly, the da Vinci Days celebration is a festival after the Techno Science Supersite's heart.
