Specific Oregon Scholarships
- ACPE Scholarships for Technology Students: The Association of Computer Professionals in Education (ACPE) are awarding $10,000 this year for scholarships for high school seniors who are planning to pursue studies in a technology related field.
- Scholarships for Specific Universities and Community Colleges: Be sure to check the college you plan to attend to see if they have specific scholarships for their school. We've included a few links to Oregon schools below. If there is a college you would like included, please submit a new site:
- Intel Science Talent Search (STS): Each year, almost 2000 students accept the challenge of completing an entry for the Intel® Science Talent Search, with finalists competing for the top prize, a $100,000 scholarship. To compete, you need to submit a report on a research project you have done in one of many fields in science and engineering.
- Martina Testa Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must be female high school seniors, intending to study engineering in a 4 or 5 year ABET accredited baccalaureate program. Applicants must reside and attend high school in the Willamette Valley or central Oregon coast. The scholarship is awarded primarily on the basis of scholastic achievement, community involvement and work experience.
- Oregon Student Assistance Commission: Scholarships: Here's a great scholarship assistance site. Save a lot of the redundant work of applying for multiple scholarships. Complete the application only one time for all scholarships that apply.
- PCC's Scholarships from Other Organizations: Here is another fine collection of scholarships for all types of potential recipients. It's worth looking over, you just may be the next one to receive a scholarship.
Other Math, Science or Technology-related Scholarships
- SME Education Foundation Scholarships: The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Education Foundation is offering over $400,000 in scholarships available for graduating high school seniors and students pursuing degrees in manufacturing and related fields.
General Resources: Scholarship Searches & Financial Aid
- Oregon College Directory: Here's a great resource for getting all the info you need on any college or university in Oregon. It's also great for searching or browsing specific degrees and subjects.
- Collegeboard.com: Finding Scholarships: This is a good user-friendly site to do filtered search among a huge database of scholarships (more than 2,000). It's also chock full of other resources including an organizer for your college prep.
- College Answer: If you're going to get information about financial aid and scholarships, you'd be remiss not to check out WiredScholar.com, since it comes from Sallie Mae, the organization that will likely be handling your college loans.
- CollegeNET: This is a slick-looking and handy site. The database of scholarships contain over 600,000 scholarships of over $1.6 billion dollars. With that much money out there, you're sure to find some money that's waiting for you.
- FastWeb: And I quote: Find money for college! Search 600,000 scholarships worth over $1 billion. Get expert tips on financial aid, careers and more! Find your dream school with personalized matching against over 4,000 colleges. Download applications for over 700 colleges.
- FinAid: This site is a great place to help you swim through the murky and dangerous waters of financial aid. If all that talk about completing forms for financial aid gets you queasy, then this is your site.
- Hobsons CollegeView: Among all of the great college and scholarship tools, there's a nifty section of colleges broken down by special interest groups, which will help you narrow your college search.
- Scholarship.com: Have them match your profile with their database of over 600,000 scholarships, from about 8,000 sources, worth over $1.4 billion
- Xap.com: You might just want to send your high school counselor on vacation after letting this web site do all your work in searching for a great college.
Career Information
- GetReal.ous.edu: is a collaborative effort between Oregon teachers, Oregon Industry, and the Oregon University System to provide up-to-date computer science career information.
- Engineer Girl: Find out more about engineering careers. Read profiles of women engineers. Find out what classes to take in high school to pursue an engineering careers.
- TryEngineering.org: Intended for pre-university students, parents, teachers, school counselors, and the general public, TryEngineering.org lets visitors explore how to prepare for an engineering career, ask experts engineering-related questions, play interactive games, and more.

Linus Pauling Memorial Lectures : What Scientists Know and How They Know It Thursday, May 1st
Are scientific theories true because they correspond to reality? How can we know that they do, given that we have no access to reality except through experience, which scientists themselves tell us is profoundly different from the the way things "really" are?
If you can't get enough of science, and you want to be up on the latest scientific theories and debates, then you should check out the Linus Pauling Memorial Lecture Series.
OGPC: Oregon Game Project Challenge 1 May 17, 2008
Join your high school buddies and design a game for Oregon's first annual high school game programming competition. Teams of 3 to 7 students may participate by designing a game based on this year's theme of the science behind energy issues. Teams must design programs using Game Maker a free, PC-based game development tool.
OMSI Brainstorm Lecture Series: Unearthing China's Dragons – Tuesday, May 20
From Liaoning to Gansu, new dinosaur discoveries are changing the face of paleontology. We will look at some of these discoveries, where they were made, and why dinosaurs half-way around the world are important to the study of dinosaurs in North America.
Judy Sanders has worked in paleontology for 14 years as a fossil excavator in the western United States, Canada, and China, and currently works as a fossil preparator at the Utah Geological Survey under Dr. James Kirkland.
Held once a month in the OMSI Auditorium, OMSI's newest adult discussion series include presentations by experts followed by ample time for Q&A with the speakers and discussion with other participants.
